Jaclyn Hawtin Biography

Jaclyn Hawtin Biography

Jaclyn Hawtin is an abstract expressionistic artist based out of Phoenix Arizona.  She was born and raised in Arizona but spent her early adult life going to school and living abroad from New York City, the boondocks of Michigan and even to the jungles of Ecuador.  She has a diverse background and has experience in many different fields.  She has an eclectic personality and tends to get antsy when she is doing the same monotonous thing over and over, because of this she quickly changes her path and tries something different.  This is why being an artist is so attractive to her.

She has been an artist her entire life in many different ways.  Since she was a child she has played the piano, violin, and guitar, and at age 15 performing throughout the amazing cathedrals in Europe and even with the royal British choir.  At age 16 she graduated high school and move to NYC to work for AmeriCorps and dance at the NYC dance institute.  Upon leaving NYC Jaclyn attended ASU for both art and biology, and performed in the ASU symphony.

Currently Jaclyn paints out of her studio in Phoenix Arizona.  She is an active member of the art community participating in First Fridays on a regular basis and also runs the art and wine meetup for local artists and art enthusiasts.  She is currently working on a series of body paintings inspired by Mayan hieroglyphics.  Once the series is finished the photographs will be put into a book and both the book and prints will be available for sale.  You can see a sample video on the home page.  Jaclyn's work can also be seen at the Janet gallery in Chandler Arizona.

In the future Jaclyn plans to move shop to South America and study spiritually with the local shamans there to gain a more spiritual and earthly connection that will be translated into her artwork.  She has had many spiritual dreams and visions throughout her life that have guided her up to this point.  She feels that the only way she can truly communicate these experiences is through her art, because it is only through abstraction that people can connect to their subconscious selves, their higher self.
